The Emirates Club finalized a contract with its new Italian coach, Walter Zenga, in the presence of His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran, Chairman of the Football Company’s Board of Directors, alongside Thani Salem Al-Shehhi and Jamal Al-Qursi, members of the Football Company’s Board of Directors.
The contract spans a season and a half. At 63 years old, Zenga brings coaching experience from various Emirati and Italian clubs.
Thani Al Shehhi, a member of the company’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to the former technical staff led by Lluís Planagumà for their previous services to the club. He commended their professionalism and wished them success. Al Shehhi also extended a warm welcome to the new technical director, Walter Zenga, highlighting his achievements and renowned reputation in the football world.
Al Shehhi stated, “With Italian coach Zenga, we envision a transformation in the team’s performance, while simultaneously striving for the Falcons to meet the expectations of their supporters.”
In his initial statement, Italian coach Zenga expressed gratitude to the club’s management, led by Youssef Al-Batran, for their trust and support. Zenga praised the Emirates Club, recognizing it as a significant club deserving of a higher standing.
He pledged, “I commit to giving my utmost effort and utilizing my expertise, alongside my global and local experiences in the UAE League, to propel the team forward.”
Regarding his approach in the upcoming stage, Zenga remarked, “It's a customary aspect in football. I will commence meeting with the players after analyzing several matches. The pivotal factor lies in the players and their responsiveness to fostering team spirit and collective play. I also seek the support of the team’s fans in this phase, where unity is paramount for progress.”
